MHRA express concern over inaccurate thermometers in the UK
The MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) has made a statement about the purchase of 'CE' marked thermometers in the United Kingdom amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The COVID19 Pandemic has meant that the demand for medical devices such as thermometers has increased dramatically, however, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency have expressed their concern over the number of innacurate thermometers being purchased online in the UK that do not comply with regulations.
When purchasing an accurate thermometer, it should carry a CE or UKCA mark.
There is government guidance which demonstrates the correct positioning of the CE mark as well as examples of what information should be included on a thermometer device, all of which can be found here.
